From the beginning of his journey to the present, “El Mati” has been considered an artist of great projection, self-taught and multifaceted, with musical thought in constant evolution and knowledge nourished by various musical and cultural sources, which make him a artist to watch out for.

Flamenco singer Matías López ‘EL MATI’ was born in Barcelona but his entire family is from Extremadura, a region with a distinctive flamenco background. Having grown up in a flamenco atmosphere, he developed his musical interests when he was only 12 years old. At 19 he decided to become a professional singer.

Throughout his career, Matias has shared the stage with the most important artists of the dance and musical flamenco scene, being required by great artists such as Sara Baras, Belen Maya, Manuel Liñán or companies like Ballet Flamenco de Andalucía. These experiences have given him the opportunity to perform in major theaters and festivals such as the Jodhpur Festival, Flamenco Festival New York, London Flamenco Festival, Netherlands Biennale or the Iberian Contemporary Festival of Queretaro (Mexico), among others.

He began his solo career in 2018 with his first studio album Doce de Cuatro, produced by musician and guitarist Fernando María. A year later, he was awarded the most prestigious award for flamenco singers, the Lámpara Minera at the 59th Festival Internacional de Cante de las Minas in La Unión (Murcia). Later, he launched two solo works Patio de Morente, a tribute to Maestro Enrique Morente, and Jugando.

As a cantaor he has truly extraordinary vocal conditions and a great capacity to communicate what he feels at each moment. His talent is a mark of quality in everything he puts on stage.
