Big Night of Flamenco Guitar

A unique night of flamenco music featuring a dazzling line up of some of the very best flamenco talent from Spain. The wonderful Mercedes Luján, young talent José de Tomate and the extraordinary Raúl Cantizano are joined by stunning dancer Sara Jiménez. This exceptional night brings together three styles of toque in an authentic and exciting celebration of the instrument.

Flamenco purest form is presented by José del Tomate, the brand-new player from Almería who takes his artistic name of his father and teacher, the renowned Tomatito. The Tomatito school has legions of followers, but with a single heir due to fundamentally artistic merits: José del Tomate. From the freshness of his sonic approach, the young guitarist has been able to translate the musical legacy of his father to the idiomatic demands of the youth. Raúl Cantizano brings the most contemporary approach to the project. Unclassifiable and unique guitarist, Cantizano is an explorer of the limits of the instrument and flamenco itself. His music, between flamenco, ambient, improvisation and rock, is experimental in the clearest sense of the word. We can hear the guitar of this musician, both ascribed to and outlawed from flamenco, iconoclastic and combative, in his solo recordings and in many collaborations. The third guitar perspective is offered by Mercedes Luján, regarded by many as the fest female flamenco guitarist in the contemporary scene. Luján displays great confidence on stage with extreme delicacy in her technique and plays in a very classical style, with echoes of Morón, Melchor and Jerez. A lot of Mercedes’ current work centers on actively promoting female guitarists. The three guitar starts are joined by stunning dancer Sara Jiménez.
