Conferences at the Instituto Cervantes London

Flamenco Festival London 2022 expands its programme with activities and conferences within the framework of the World Flamenco Congress of the Cervantes Institute on the occasion of its 30th anniversary. This parallel programme works to make the richness of flamenco visible by focusing on its capacity for dialogue and encounter with other artistic languages and present-day movements such as feminism or LGTBIQ+ diversity.

With the aim of underlining the condition of flamenco as “high culture” with popular roots, this World Congress aims to generate a space for reflection through five thematic lines that bring together the best flamenco art of today and its possibilities of evolution in a world in constant crisis and change: the Word, the Body, Transformation and the Future, Crossbreeding and Diversity, and Emotions.

Two conferences will be held at the Instituto Cervantes in London, the first one on Friday 24 June at 6 pm, by the cultural journalist Sara Arguijo and entitled “Flamenco. Made for Europe. From Ole! Al Wow”. This will be followed by the talk “La Generación Z, una nueva forma de ver el flamenco”, by flamenco journalist Luis Ybarra, on Wednesday 29 June at 6 pm.
