Collaboration between avant-garde choreographer and dancer Israel Galván and dancer Isabel Bayón is something to eagerly look forward to. Bayón and Galván, both National Dance Prizes in 2013 and 2005, are contemporaries and have known one another since their first stamps on the flamenco boards as talented youngsters. In Dju-Dju, led by Israel Galván, Isabel Bayón surrenders herself to ‘her demons and fears, and the superstition that dominates the flamenco world’, in the words of the two dance makers. ‘In Dju-Dju I change her mindset’, says the Nijinsky of flamenco, who rebelled against the strict canons of the purists like no one else. Bayón says that working with Galván has been wonderfully liberating.
