Una Oda al tiempo (An Ode to time) offers a deep dialogue with memory, evoked in the majesty of María Pagés´s dance. It is an allegory of the time in which we live in, conducted through a variety of flamenco styles that reflect joy, euphoria, love, desire and beauty. It weaves its forms through texts, images and languages in movement, in which, organic truths about flamenco are exposed, guided by the rhythm of the guitar, the violin and the cello. The choreographic sequences are fast and sharp. Accompanied by 4 female dancers, four male dancers and seven musicians, María Pagés explores the Spanish cultural tradition; reviews the flamenco “Palos” nourishing them with the best of modern art.
“With María Pagés, the floor mysteriously acquires a power of levitation, as one might imagine that the ground can be separated from the Earth and dissolve in the air, to follow the paths that her arms lead. It is known that the dance genius lives in María Pagés, we all know it and proclaim it. But there is more to this woman; she dances and in doing so, moves everything around her.”
